WHERE WE COME FROM

In March 2014, a group from Calvary Chapel Las Vegas was inspired to plant a church in New Hampshire. Originally established as Great Bay Calvary in Portsmouth, we relocated to Dover in 2019. In 2023, we rebranded as Awaken Great Bay.

LIVING FOR CHRIST

We want to fulfill the great commission by walking out God's Calling to wake up the spiritually dead.

A Calvary Chapel Church

Awaken Great Bay is proud to be a Calvary Chapel church, offering accountability and fellowship within a respected Global Network. While maintaining our independent, non-denominational status, each church governs itself with its own leadership, pastors, and elders. This structure ensures each community is autonomous and aligned with its unique mission and values.

Our Beliefs

WE EXIST TO LOVE GOD AND OTHERS

We exist to love God and others, fulfilling the entire law as summarized by Jesus. This love is only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit working in our lives.

PEOPLE ARE OUR PURPOSE

We believe there is no higher calling than proclaiming the gospel of Christ through word and actions. Discipleship flourishes as we study God's Word and engage in ministry and outreach.

SERVING IS OUR PRIVILEGE

God calls us to actively live out our faith, not sit idly. Through serving God and others, we mature spiritually and find true joy.

FAITH IS OUR RESPONSE

We believe that God desires to work in every life. A life led by the Holy Spirit is the best life, and God's grace is always sufficient when we fall short.

COMMUNITY IS OUR DESIRE

We aim to be a life-changing community where each member becomes a clearer image of Jesus. True community begins with serious fellowship and grows as we open up and shed our pretenses.

WORSHIP IS OUR PASSION

We exist to worship God through music, prayer, and a life devoted to Jesus. Our entire lives are an offering of worship to God.

THE WORD IS OUR GUIDE

All Scripture is God-breathed, alive, and infallible. We hold God's Word as the ultimate authority on how we live and teach expository, verse-by-verse, to uncover its profound truths.

JESUS IS OUR ANCHOR

Jesus is the Son of God, who died for our sins, rose again on the third day, and triumphed over death and hell.
